Best Coast [aka Bethany Cosentino] has been making some serious
waves tsunamis with her brand of lo-fi, surf pop. Earlier today,
Black Iris released her latest 7" - a 2-song indie explosion of good times and echoed vocals. It's kind of like listening to your new favorite band from outside your local venue - raw, entrancing and insanely catchy. Side A side contains a 50s influenced love song as she confesses her heart to a lucky guy - "when i'm with you i have fun." The other side is an infectious jam called "This Is Real." If you don't end up singing along, there might be something wrong with you.
Overall, the 7" is a well-produced lo-fi jam [if that makes any sense] of 2 of the years catchiest songs that should have been released in the summer.
