The past week has been so intense in almost every way. School, work, Phillies v Yankees, etc. But at the end of the week, I get to relax and lend my ears to brand new Yeasayer!
Yesterday they released "Ambling Alp", a single from the upcoming sophomore LP, Odd Blood. Grab the song below and pre-order the 4-song single featuring remixes by Memory Tapes and DJ Rupture.
Hello all. Keeping with the theme of music and my apparent lack of recent postings, I wanted to restart my blogging with a simple and funny video of a deleted clip from the new Spike Jonez/Kanye West short film, "We Once Were Once A Fairytale". With new recent dislike from Kanye and Non-Kanye Fans alike, I'm sure we will all find joy in this short clip. Enjoy!
Brooklyn/PA duo Dragon Turtle will release their first real-deal LP next month [nov 10th] via La Société Expéditionnaire called Almanac. Check out a little glimpse into the world of Brian Lightbody and Tom Asselin with the song Island Of Broken Glass - a fragile and winding mind trip of acoustic jam mixed with intense soundscapes.
Last month I posted a remix by Bodega Girls of Port O'Brien's "My Will Is Good". Not only did they take the song to a whole-nother-level, they made the video interesting yet nausea inducing - in a good way
Minnesota's We Are The Willows [aka Peter Michael Miller] evokes all the memories of childhood, friends and family while playing quietly at the dining room table [not really]. His upcoming debut LP A Collection of Sounds and Something Like the Plague [Amble Down Records - Nov 24th] will be out just on time for the winter season. I suggest you get it, grab a hot cocoa [or dark beer] and snuggle up with your best friends in a real pile - yea i went there.
Back in 2007, I heard about this hot new band from BK called Yeasayer. I devoured it, shared it, savored it and regurgitated it. It was fresh and different and I couldn't believe it was coming from some apartment in Brooklyn, NY. It's been a couple years now and whenever I listen to All Hour Cymbals, I still get chills. It could also be the open window I'm next to but still...
Earlier this year, we got teased with a new track from the Dark Was The Night comp called Tightrope. And FINALLY a couple weeks ago I saw that they had made a twitter [follow them now!]. It was almost time to get the good news we've been waiting for. Here it is: Indie monster label Secretly Canadian has picked up Yeasayer on it's roster and revealed, today, that they will be releasing their sophomore album, Odd Blood, on Feb 9th of 2010 [not 2080].

I've said it before and I'll say it again, 2010 might just give 2009 a run for its money.
Last time I did "Short Stack" post was back in July and for good reason - it's super time consuming and tedious. But today I've got a good collection, so why not share my gold?
Up first is a new tune from Tegan & Sara's upcoming LP Sainthood [Oct 27th via Sire]. The Ocean is classic T & S with layered vocals, soft but lifting guitar, and emotional lyrics of yearning.
Awesome New Republic's Alleycat starts out as an electropop tune which soon becomes consumed by upbeat indiepop. This Miami trio is one to watch as they release their sophomore LP Hearts next week, Oct 27th via Honor Roll Records.
Washed Out [Ernest Greene] from Georgia has been riding the high waves of blog buzz for the past couple of months and deserves most of it. His summery, lazy lo-fi dance vibe jam are actually good for any season. High Times is a sold out tour only cassette tape. Check out the third track from it called Phone Call.
Last I heard of Beach House, they were just getting signed to Sub Pop. Today they released some info about their upcoming release, Teen Dream, which will be out January 26th of 2010. Along with the album, their will be a DVD which will feature a video for every song. Kind of like what Beck did with The Information. So far, next year looks like it'll give 2009 a run for its money.

UK's Relation is about to drop an electro indie bomb [LP] on your ass and change all your winter blues into a brilliant red. Check out the debut album entitled Fear Of Night right now at their label Urban Torque.
But while you're here, click below to listen to an edit by Lifelike of the song "Your Tiny Mind"
UK's Broadcast recently teamed up with The Focus Group and used Warp as a gateway to release of their weird-psychedelia-fuck-trip called Broadcast and The Focus Group Investigate Witch Cults Of The Radio Age. Broadcast has also been mad busy getting ready to release a new monster onto this planet in 2010. In the meanwhile, they're on the road [just played in Philly tonight] with Atlas Sound. While traveling our nation, they're selling a brand new tour only EP called Mother Is The Milky Way.
Check out a new song from the EP titled "elegant elephant"

I love music recommendations from friends. This one was suggested to me over the week from a co-worker/fellow music nerd. Faunts [via Alberta, Canada] have been around too long for me to not have heard of them before. They create interesting, blip-electro indie music on the vibes of 80's dance floor boogie.
Vincent Moon met up with Efterklang and Danish friends yet again to film a documentary on the Copenhagen music scene. Check out the klang performing in what looks like a kiving room. Can I hire them for my next birthday? That'd be rad
Twitter hooked me up with a new video to check out last night. So I checked it out today. I've never heard of Quiet Company before. The video [directed by Digital Shakedown] is like a freshman orientation turned protest turned ... Maybe they're just running for class president? New candy in the vending machines? Get em!
I've heard some good things from St. Louis producer Phaseone this year. Today he is releasing his mixtape of remix wonders and solo tunes for free. I seriously suggest getting this one which includes a Bon Iver and El-P mashup, an Ani Co remix, a Raekwon and Blind Man's Colour blend and many more.
Do Grizzly Bear ever hibernate? It seems that they've been working non stop since the beginning of the year with building huge and well deserved hype for Veckatimest. They've gone on a few tours nationwide, recorded a song for some soundtrack and still have time to hang out on the late night circuit. Last night they took on Conan with Victoria Legrand [Beach House] who fittingly brought the beach umbrellas for the backdrop. Not really.

In other Gbear related news, bassist and harmonizer Chris Taylor has a side solo project entitled Cant. Check out the track below and click the link to check out this growing record label.
White Rabbits travel to LA to do a little Take Away Show for the French based music blog, La Blogotheque. This time the take away show is brought to a local backyard hang out. I wish I had some percussion gun to go with my hot dogs and beer. Do they take requests? My house...next summer. Thank you
Last month, we got word of the New Moon soundtrack and its list of various musical wonders from Lykke Li to Bon Iver to G Bear and beyond. I also predicted that the song "Rosyln" by Bon Iver and St. Vincent would sound like a dark night terror recorded in a cabin somewhere in Wisconsin. I wasn't too far off, but I would add more cabin than nightmare. It's still a perfect fit for the anticipated harsh winter season. But seriously, will this make me go out and see New Moon? No
Canadian bands tend to have this airy/chill factor that many American bands don't. Maybe it has something to do with the northern winds that cool the heat off our humid summer bodies as the autumn rolls on in. The Rest [from Ontario], are ready to unleash the breeze of winter onto our sweaty, lo-fi summer ears with a new LP entitled Everyone All At Once. On another note, however, the band will also be releasing an EP that comes with an illustrated novel called The Cried Wolf Book. The first song, "With Every Heartbeat" [a Robyn cover], is the kick off - a minimalist indie jam with light percussion, floating guitars and a catchy as shit sing along breakdown at the 2:15 mark. The pause is so perfect it's almost painful, but so worth it. . MP3 :: The Rest - With Every Heartbeat [Robyn cover]
Phoenix songs are perfect for remixing and Jay ain't against the indie remix fix. But if they had to battle it out, I think Jay would win. Just saying.
During school today I heard about this new movie called Paranormal Activity. It sounded good enough to youtube, so youtube I did. I have to say that this gave me legit goosebumps. This is coming from a guy who gets chills by watching A Haunting on the Discovery channel. My point: Ghost stories scare the shit out of me. Shut it.
Paranormal Activity is only out in select theaters. Click here for the full listing of theaters.
Final Fantasy is Owen Pallett, Owen Pallett IS Final Fantasy. Heartland is Final Fantasy's new album and will be released by Domino on Jan 12, 2010.
A little blurb about the record straight from the looped violin himself: "The songs themselves form a narrative concerning a farmer named Lewis and the fictional world of Spectrum. The songs are one-sided dialogues with Lewis, a young, ultra-violent farmer, speaking to his creator."

Only a few months have passed since the last Bibio LP came out [june 22, 09]. Ambivalence Avenue was a wonderful mix of dancefloor beats and r&b inspired guitar folk. Word has it that he has a new LP coming out which features 4 brand new songs and 8 remixes of songs from the last album. Check out a clip of the title track below.
The Apple And The Tooth does not have an official release date yet.

Don't really feel like I need to post about this since it's already all over the internet, but I will anyway. Whatever. Last month we were introduced to VW's [vee-dubz] marketing strategies with the release of their cover for the new album entitled Contra. Here's the first track "Horchata."
"In December drinking Horchata / I look psychotic in a balaclava"

So I'm on the ball as far as keeping Digital Dreams a daily blog, but sometimes I get sidetracked either by being productive and responsible or getting a "little" drunk. Hence, the belated post. Hope you all had a great weekend! --
Volcano Choir are waiting patiently in my iTunes list until the time is right. The trees will have to be bare, the sun will set earlier and my breath will be visible. Check out the video below for Island, IS. It's capable of putting you in a meditative trance. Bawk like a chicken.
G Bear playing a new song from that New Moon soundtrack with Victoria Legrand from Beach House. mmmmmmm

Jools Holland has a knack for getting some excellent up and coming bands to play his circular music fuck. Watch him introduce The XX as they play Islands and Night Time. Both are from the debut album XX.
So what do you get when a group that probably released this years best album remix another group that probably released this years best album? An explosion? Total blog implosion? Probably yes. And yes.
Together In Digital Dreams [Digi Dreams] is a collection of thoughts on music, art and film brought to you by a small group of friends based in and around Philadelphia, PA
