Recently, I posted my excitement about the 3rd jj LP coming out in March chronologically titled jj n° 3. Here is a little taste of what to expect with the 3rd track, "Let Go" - which is exactly what I won't do with jj.

Here is a little poem from their old label, Sincerely Yours, about the two songs:

"OK, jj went to malaga to have some fun, get some sun and 2 albums done. it was back in the fall of 2008 when they had both lost their virginity to insanity and were looking for moments of clarity. a plane to spain felt like a reasonable opportunity.
so with money in the bank, nobody to thank, it started with a drank.
and a couple of hours later the on the 29th of september they had felt the first breeze coming in from africa, sweet winds of melodies pure and true.

and now, it's time to give it away to you, of course for free, for you to see how vacation could be. so, let go, cause this is my way."

After releasing one of the most chill summer albums and my number 10 favorite record of the year, jj will return in 2010 with a new one chronologically named jj no° 3. It will be released on March 9th through Secretly Canadian.

Amid his busy schedule, New Jersey's bedroom pop solo dude Dayve Hawk aka Memory Tapes aka Memory Cassette aka Weird Tapes turned Yeasayer's newest upbeat/life changing/horn-enhanced single "Ambling Alp" into a dance floor friendly/happiest-bass-line-ever jam. NEW + VIDEO: YEASAYER signs to Secretly Canadian - New Album in Feb

Back in 2007, I heard about this hot new band from BK called Yeasayer. I devoured it, shared it, savored it and regurgitated it. It was fresh and different and I couldn't believe it was coming from some apartment in Brooklyn, NY. It's been a couple years now and whenever I listen to All Hour Cymbals, I still get chills. It could also be the open window I'm next to but still...

Earlier this year, we got teased with a new track from the Dark Was The Night comp called Tightrope. And FINALLY a couple weeks ago I saw that they had made a twitter [follow them now!]. It was almost time to get the good news we've been waiting for. Here it is: Indie monster label Secretly Canadian has picked up Yeasayer on it's roster and revealed, today, that they will be releasing their sophomore album, Odd Blood, on Feb 9th of 2010 [not 2080].

[FREE MP3] BLK JKS - Molalatladi

A few weeks ago I mentioned my new love for Blk Jks [Black Jacks]- a kick ass afro-psych band actually from South Africa - who blew me away with their single "Lakeside." It's only been a few months since their debut EP was released and already I'm craving more. I won't have to wait long.

This fall they will be releasing their debut LP entitled After Robots. The newest track from aforementioned LP is a little diddy by the name of "Molalatladi" which kicks off the highly anticipated hype with a bang. A tight drum intro, freshly plucked guitar, horns and south african chants are just the beginning. Pretty soon the phenomenal guitar solo will come along and melt your mind.

[MP3] NEW Throw Me The Statue - Ancestors

Last summer I was practically obsessed with this band called Throw Me The Statue. Catchy songs like "Lolita" and "About To Walk" played on repeat in my head almost constantly. It just so happened that last summer I took a trip to Seattle [where TMTS are from] to hang with an old friend of mine. On the plane, I couldn't help but imagine everything that Scott Reitherman [frontman/creator of TMTS] was singing about.

This summer, I'm hoping that Throw Me The Statue's sophomore LP entitled Creaturesque delivers some top quality/much anticipated tracks. At least the cover looks refreshing. Nice pool.

[MP3] BLK JKS - Lakeside

Sometimes I come across bands that I think are okay. Sometimes they suck [and I'll be the first to admit it]. But sometimes there are bands that blow my fucking ears off - in a really good way. Blk Jks is one of the latter. Hailing from Johannesburg, South Africa, Blk Jks create loud, psychedelic South African pop music with ease. They implement heavy bass, crisp guitar, whistling, and spacey vocals to capture something new for our ears.

The cover of their debut EP entitled Mystery conveys to us a story that we can't clearly figure out. It can be fun. It can be fleeting. It can be dangerous. Either way, it's definitely enticing.

Blk Jks debut EP was released back in March [3/10/09] on Secretly Canadian Records. I honestly can't wait to hear more from these guys.
