[MP3] Wild Moccasins - Fruit Tea

As a new addition to my iTunes and more importantly - my 2nd Summer Mixx [in the works] - Wild Moccasins blend right in. Who are the Wild Moccasins? They are a young and talented group of musicians from Houston, Texas fronted by band founders Cody Swann and Zahira Gutierrez. They write and play bubbly, cute infectious indie pop/rock in the same vein as The Vaselines, The New Pornographers and the Pomegranates just to name a few.

MP3 :: Wild Moccasins - Fruit Tea

You can grab their debut EP Microscopic Metronomes either @ iTunes or their myspace page

Throwback Thursdays [80s Classix Edition]

I should really be writing this while wearing acid wash jeans, a boss looking jean jacket and huge neon green sunglasses. I have none of those. Ah well. Maybe that needs to change.

Toto- Africa
Dexy's Midnight Runners - Come On Eileen
Talking Heads - Once In A Lifetime
Duran Duran - Hungry Like The Wolf
Run DMC w/ Aerosmith - Walk This Way
Madness - Our House
New Order - Temptation

The Dodos "Time To Die" + tour dates

I'm sure you've heard by now. The Dodos new album Time To Die comes out later this year [Sept 15th] via Frenchkiss Records and features a 3rd member. 3rd member for the 3rd album? Coincidence?...probably, yes. Once I get a legal MP3 from the label, I'll be glad to share it with you. Till then....keep it in your pants

UPDATE: Ah well look at that. You're in luck. In just a few hours [12 PM], The Dodos will be performing at 89.5 CIUT in Toronto. You can stream the entire thing on the stations website. I'm sure they'll play some new stuff.

[Stream] Tyondai Braxton (of Battles) - Uffe's Woodshop

[via Warp]

It's been more than 2 years since Battles' debut LP rocked the indie world to its knees. And for some reason, they never quite hung around as long as we liked. Thankfully, one of the guys from Battles by the name of Tyondi Braxton is set to release his solo album entitled Central Market on Sept 15th on Warp Records. Check out a new song in the fancy little player above.

[Reissue] The Beastie Boys - Ill Communication

Just as I thought. The Beastie Boys will be reissuing one of my fave albums of all time - Ill Communication on July 14th via Capitol Records. They've already released reissues of Paul's Boutique and Check Your Head. This is the same kinda deal - tons of packages including a digital download, a double standard 180 gram vinyl, a double CD package and of course the mighty limited Collector's Vinyl package which is pretty intense. Check all of em out on their website and get your pre-order on. While you're there, you can also listen to the entire remastered version right now since it's streaming

Be sure to keep a look out for more Beastie news soon...

[Video] Bowerbirds play Bright Future for They Shoot Music

New song by the trio performed solo style by Phil Moore. If you haven't already go out and buy Bowerbirds new album Upper Air that dropped today [really yesterday if you want to be a technical douchebag] on Dead Oceans. It's real nice. Take that from a blogger who blogged about them almost constantly earlier this year.

[Short Stack] Riceboy Sleeps // The Drums // My Gold Mask // Atmosphere // Florence And The Machine

You may remember the introduction to the Sigur Ros side project Riceboy Sleeps thanks to that huge indie comp Dark Was The Night a little while ago. Here's another new song from the upcoming debut LP entitled Boy 1904.

The Drums are from Brooklyn. Naturally. Hello, surf pop summer anthem. I need to make another playlist soon.

Not long ago I wrote about My Gold Mask and how you should def listen to them. They recently got the remix treament thanks to The Hood Internet. Check out it.

Atmosphere released a digital EP this weekend called Leak At Will. Check the MP3 and download the entire 7 song EP

MP3 :: Atmosphere - C'MON

Took me a little while to get into Florence And The Machine. Now I can't stop listening. Her debut LP Lungs came out yesterday in the UK.

[Stream Sesh] The Very Best - Warm Heart Of Africa

If you're anything like me - you hear a killer single by some group and get so attached to it that it's all you can listen to for a day or two until you just need something new. Thankfully, I found more of The Very Best to satisfy my music needs. The Very Best are a duo comprised of Esau Mwamwaya & Radioclit who released a mix tape entitled The Very Best Mixtape a ways back. More recently they released a single called called Warm Heart Of Africa ft. Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig in preparation for their debut LP later this year. It was going to be on the Best Of 09 So Far list but like I said then...I felt bad for not including some songs.

I'm not going to lie, I totally didn't know they had a mix tape and I'm listening to it right now for the first time [nice Architecture In Helsinki sample-age]. I seriously cannot wait for the debut LP.

Surf on over to their home page on Green Owl to listen to the mix tape

Warm Heart Of Africa will be out this Fall on Green Owl
